School - Day 002

Dress - Wet Seal
Shirt - Fashion Q
Shoes - H&M
Bag and heart-shaped sunglasses - Forlove 21

TGIF!...Even though it's only day two of school...=P Here's how my schedule went:

AP Government - One of my scariest classes! As soon as the class started, with no introductions or anything, the teacher gave us a pop quiz on current events! And they were on detailed information, so I couldn't even bs it! Then she went on saying that there is tons of reading from our text book assigned to us every night from now until May, a quiz every class, and 2-3 lectures per class. Lovely, no?
Theater Arts 2 - This class is smaller than the one last year, still full of the fun people...just not all of them. Nonetheless, I'm excited, I love drama!
Fashion Merchandising ROP - Definitely a candidate to be my favorite class! Not only is the fab four together, (Elana, Alena, Shouka, and myself), but our class assignment today was to flip through fashion magazines and write down celebrity trends! How perfect is that??

Well now that is my full schedule. First a 3-day weekend, and then I suppose eventually I have to *offically* switch back into school mode! Not exactly looking forward to that...but it looks like it'll be a fun year! (:

Back To School!

Cardigan - Target
Skirt - Forever 21
Shoes - H&M
Bag and heart-shaped sunglasses - Forlove 21

*sigh* Can't believe the summer has already ended, and we are once again forced back in to the halls of the mundane and dreary.
The only bright side to it all is that there are some changes to keep me entertained for the time being. New teachers, new friends, new people overall.

So today my classes went as such:
English AP - AMAZING! Not only are the coolest people ever in there with me, but the teacher is a young, relatively stylish blonde who I've heard much praise about. She seems to encourage creativity which is perfect for me, so it won't be some dreadfully difficult AP class.
Graphic Design - Not quite sure why I was thrown in here...I'm assuming that as soon as I told my counselor I wanted to go to FIDM, she put me in as many art classes as possible. Interesting classmates, for sure, and the teacher seems pretty interesting as well, once again, he appears to encourage creativity rather than a structured environment.
Art - Awkward class and an even more awkward teacher. Hoping to switch out asap!

We'll see how tomorrow's classes go :)

P.S. I found this calculator on PETA...not exactly sure how accurate it is, but it does seem interesting! I'm 17, F, and I've been a vegetarian for a year which means I saved 280 animals! What does your result say?

Character Inspiration

Jane from Tarzan.
I saw parts of the Disney film today and remembered just how cute it was, and how I do love her old-fashioned, British style. It wasn't completely represented in the Disney film, but I could easily imagine that real-life Jane wore huge bubble dresses, long gloves, and carried a different parasol with her wherever she went.

Lena Kaligaris from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
I finally saw the second movie yesterday with my sister, and even in the first one, I found that the character of Lena to be just so gentle and fragile with a very soft and pretty style to match. Lots of white blouses and floral print skirts!

Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.
Of course! This woman has such impeccable style, she is always put together and classy, even when lounging about the house! She inspires me to have the confidence to dress whichever way I please. College Fashion has an incredible guide on how to make your wardrobe Blair-inspired!

Oh, Mr. DJ baby, can you meet me outside?

Quick & Random Notes
♥ Eww! School is starting Thursday...where did the summer go? Mine was uneventful compared to previous years/what I was expecting. Nonetheless, it went by quickly. Do you have any crazy stories from this summer? =P

♥ I got an extension on my FIDM project, as it had to be rescheduled. I'm relieved because I would rather have a perfect one then a rushed one.

♥ The weather is still obnoxiously hot, and thus impossible to dress anywhere as cute as I'd like. I just can't wait till it gets colder to dress up!

♥ I admit with a great deal of hesitation that I am missing the boy. Either that or I am just generally lonely, lol! Very pathetic, I know...just there was no closure as it was completely out of the blue. It "ended" after one weekend of spending together, like we normally did, everything the same as usual, and we left each other saying "I'll see you soon", sorta-thing. But just neither one of us called the other. And I was holding out to have him call me, but it's been over a month and he never did. I admit that I called him, but his voicemail was full! So he must have completely disappeared? lol I need to find some new men. xD

I don't even know your name, so I will call you medicine - you can ease my pain.

I put together a list of items I need to add to my closet, and I so badly want to go shopping! But the problem is that money is pretty tight...and it's so difficult to resist temptation.
My mom is incredibly avaricious, hording money for fear of having to part with it. My father would give me the world if he could afford it. He works really hard to earn money, and though he'd love to live a luxurious life style, he can't when all the money he does earn is sucked away by my mom in their struggles for divorce.
My point of this little rant would be that I either need to find materials to create my own garments, or somehow find a shop with ridiculously cheap, yet chic, clothing. Any suggestions or ideas on how to achieve a darling collection of clothes without breaking your budget? =P

a personal style evolution.

Summer - Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

I was reflecting upon my summer style in an attempt to drag out some inspiration. Over the summer, I realized my clothes weren't so much "chic", as it was inspired by certain things. It was very much "raver" or "party girl", in a less obnoxious way, with a twist of Japanese "kawaii" flair, mixed with edgy studded belts here and there, and as much color as possible. It was all about making life a constant trip in a drug-free sense, and just living life. It made me think of the scene in Alice in Wonderland, when Alice is tumbling down the rabbit hole, and everything is flashing in colors, and she's opening and closing different drawers and moving things here and there. It's overwhelming but in the most exhilarating way possible. Everything was so new and so wonderful, and most definitely, tons of fun.

Fall - Tea Party

Last night I saw the movie How to Steal a Million with Audrey Hepburn, and I just adored her wardrobe! It very much reminded me of my last post, with such polished hair, sweet blouses, fabulous skirts, when it hit me - I want to dress that way. I want to dress every day as if I was going to a luxurious tea party, even if it's just going to school. After all, once school comes in the fall, the majority of my year will be spent there, so why not make the best of it? Why not make it a tea party? It's the only way I can see myself surviving anyway. It is very different than my summer style, but I suppose it just comes with the season, or perhaps a sense of maturity? I no longer feel the need to stand out via bright colors and candy bracelets, but rather I am so excited to wear fabulous coats, bubble skirts, ankle boots, and ruffled blouses. I may incorporate little things here and there, like a hello kitty necklace, or neon bows, because I'm not changing myself as a person, just a style evolution! It also hit me, that like Alice, I have gotten to a new part of my adventure - the Mad Hatter and March Hare's tea party! I suppose you'll have to stay tuned to see how it goes, when school does start I will begin posting my daily outfits! (Which should keep me motivated to stay away from sweats like previous years).

Now move I'm gonna come dry, I dropped my musings out of sight.

Vogue Italia August 2008
I adored this, she truly does remind me of a Bond Girl! The photographs seem to just go in order of the story...like a girl who got caught up in the glamorous and luxurious life with her new boyfriend and becomes eye candy for the paparazzi, which brings unwanted attention to her boyfriend (who is secretly a spy), so he becomes furious, so she decides to just settle down. Lol! As you can tell I'm very excited. What do you get? :)

i have no sympathy for symphonies.

It's been over a week and I'm still stuck in a rut, ground-breaking inspiration-wise. xD

I did get a chance to go to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising campus in L.A. yesterday with Elana and Alena. It was so incredibly exciting, I absolutely felt at home, as if I simply belonged there.
I now have until August 26th to complete my application project which consists of sending in a transcript (with my not so stellar grades x_x), three recommendations (school isn't in session yet so it will be hard getting a hold of teachers), an admissions essay, an entrance project (which is to sketch 2 evening wear, 3 career, 3 sportswear, and 2 other designs of my choice), and an application form. *PHEW* I better get inspired soon so I can get started asap!

Anyway, I figured I'd come on and check out my fellow fashion bloggers and let my faithful viewers know I haven't completely disappeared ;)

clementines and cupcakes.

Once again got together with my "fashion friends", but this time it was actually all four of us! (Shouka, Elana, and Alena). We had a picnic at a park complete with pizza, smart water, and fashion magazines, and then skipped around taking photos wherever we found fit. Now I realize that my dress wasn't really as flattering as I thought it was, and my heart sunglasses didn't do much for me either. Oh well, it's all about trial and error, and I blame the heat for my lack of anything better.

Hippies Vs. Ravers

So, I'm still stuck in a rut of lack of inspiration. Maybe because it's because it has been too hot to dress up and too boring over here to even attempt in finding anything to do. Whatever the case I'm one again stuck at home, when I came across a documentary on the History channel on hippies!
I know the hippie trend is becoming overrated due to all the little myspace tweens with sucked in cheeks and peace signs held high, self-proclaiming in their captions that they are a "hippie", when they know nothing about the history. The original values and ideas of a hippie was actually really spectacular, and it's a shame that those comcepts have been tarnished due to drugs and hatred or just over hype by wannabe teenagers and recycled trends.
I know I've said this before, but ravers are the modern hippie! It doesn't really seem that way from the pictures - but both maintained the "plurr" way of life, which is "peace, love, unity, respect, and responsibility".
On the other side, both are viewed as wild, irresponsible, outrageous children who destruct themselves with drugs and premarital and unsafe sex, who do more harm than good. What do you think?
