Hippies Vs. Ravers

So, I'm still stuck in a rut of lack of inspiration. Maybe because it's because it has been too hot to dress up and too boring over here to even attempt in finding anything to do. Whatever the case I'm one again stuck at home, when I came across a documentary on the History channel on hippies!
I know the hippie trend is becoming overrated due to all the little myspace tweens with sucked in cheeks and peace signs held high, self-proclaiming in their captions that they are a "hippie", when they know nothing about the history. The original values and ideas of a hippie was actually really spectacular, and it's a shame that those comcepts have been tarnished due to drugs and hatred or just over hype by wannabe teenagers and recycled trends.
I know I've said this before, but ravers are the modern hippie! It doesn't really seem that way from the pictures - but both maintained the "plurr" way of life, which is "peace, love, unity, respect, and responsibility".
On the other side, both are viewed as wild, irresponsible, outrageous children who destruct themselves with drugs and premarital and unsafe sex, who do more harm than good. What do you think?

I think you are right about ravers being the modern hippies, in terms of style. But hippies generally had a political message they were trying to communicate, something which ravers may be lacking?
Great photos, regardless!!

You're right, in pop culture class we talked about the advent of hippies, and then in the 80s the ravers took the same principles.

as a raver, i definitely see the parallel between ravers and hippies. plurr is a key factor. as far as political issues, we want to uphold the first amendment, particularly the right of the people to peaceably assemble
